Where to shop and where to not… Consumer NZ releases People’s Choice awards winners

Consumer NZ has released the findings of its latest survey and the People's Choice award winners, which highlight the level of customer satisfaction with New Zealand retailers across different categories.

The survey, which had about 3,500 participants, aimed to gauge consumers' favourite stores based on factors such as customer service, product availability, and the general in-store and online experience.

"We put a survey out about three and a half thousand people asking them to tell us about their favourite stores and then basically we look at who is top of the shops," said Gemma Rasmussen, Head of Research and Advocacy at Consumer NZ, explaining how the winners were chosen.

The People's Choice award winners, according to the survey, were 100% Appliances, Heathcote Appliances, Mitre 10, Apple, and 2degrees.

While the survey results looked at a range of factors, including customer service, product availability, and the in-store and online experience, Miles asked Rasmussen if prices took priority over service.

"We know currently with the cost of living issues, people are really prioritising cost, this is the biggest component, Rasmussen responded

"People are looking out for deals, they're looking out for discounts and that's the number one thing when they go to make a purchase, the cost is the top priority,".

She also noted that other factors such as poor customer service or the inability to return an item, could factor into the general experience. But on the whole, price was the biggest issue for people.
