Lytton Street School, Feilding Intermediate in lockdown

Lytton Street School in Feilding, is in lockdown for the second time in just four days, along with Feilding Intermediate.

The school posted on Facebook to reassure parents and caregivers that all students are safe inside. The post added that the school is awaiting further instructions from the police and will provide updates as they become available.

Police sighted a suspected stolen vehicle in Colyton Road at about 11 am and signalled for it to stop. The vehicle fled and it was not pursued, but Police maintained observations and followed it into Feilding to the Timona park area, where it has been abandoned.

Two people have been arrested and officers are working to locate any further occupants. As a precaution, the Armed Offenders Squad are attending and the nearest school has been put into lockdown.

The reason for the lockdowns has not been disclosed, and police have not released any official statement regarding the situation. Both schools are expected to remain in lockdown until the police investigation is completed.

More to come.
