John McCaw, the Director of McCaw Farming Ltd, is involved in every step of the process for McCaw Seeds, from putting the seed in the ground to processing it for sale off the farm just out of Methven known as the home of the Marsden Hybrid Perennial Grass.
A finalist in the upcoming 2024 Arable Awards, McCaw discusses the integration of livestock into cropping systems to combat herbicide-resistant weeds and the overcoming external challenges many farmers are facing such as harsh weather conditions and economic pressures.
He also explores advancements in New Zealand’s seed certification system, where, as Vice Chair of the New Zealand Seeds Authority, McCaw highlights the benefits of digitising certification processes.
