Foodbank Attendance Up 50% As Cost Of Living + Job Losses Increase

With the cost of living only increasing in recent times, food insecurity in New Zealand has become an ever more pronounced issue across the country.

Meat the Need General Manager Zellara Holden highlights the escalating challenges food banks face due to rising living costs and job losses.

She emphasises the essential role of community and farmer contributions in supporting food banks, stressing the fact that even small donations from farmers, such as milk or livestock, can significantly impact struggling families.

Holden praises organisations like Silver Fern Farms and Fonterra who have been pivotal in providing much-needed meat and milk.
