In a twist that seems almost too bizarre to be true, Joe Exotic, famously known as "The Tiger King" from the hit Netflix documentary series, has announced his bid to run for President of the United States despite currently serving a 22-year prison sentence.
Exotic was jailed in 2019 on multiple charges, including animal abuse and a murder-for-hire plot, targeting animal rights activist Carole Baskin. However, he maintains his innocence and claims to have been the victim of a stitch-up.
In a statement on his campaign website, Exotic says he is running to give people a voice and "your freedom back without fear of living in a country that thinks they own you and can tell you how to live your life."
He accuses politicians of taking away "hard-earned money and calling it taxes" and claims he wants to use his "world platform" to make them listen.
He acknowledges that his past, including drug use, being gay, and having multiple boyfriends, as well as his current imprisonment, might make some voters hesitant to support him. Still, he insists that he can be their voice despite these circumstances.
While Exotic's campaign will generate significant attention, it remains to be seen how much support he will receive from the American public.
