Duncan Garner is the host of Today FM's new morning talk show kicking off weekdays in 2022, from 9am until midday.

His New Zealand media career is impressive and extensive with over 25 years in journalism and broadcasting.  He started at The Daily News in Taranaki as a cadet in 1994 before halving his pay to join TVNZ in 1995 where he spent six years in their Parliamentary Press Gallery Bureau before joining the current affairs show Holmes for two years.

Duncan then jumped ship to TV3 and became the network's Political Editor for seven years culminating in winning the coveted “TV Journalist of the Year” award at the Qantas TV Awards 2007. Duncan then hosted TV3’s Third Degree, The Vote and 7pm show, Story as well as hosting the Drive show on RadioLive daily for six years where he won ‘Best Talk Presenter’ at the 2017 NZ Radio Awards.

An accomplished writer, Duncan has had regular weekly opinion columns in Stuff and currently writes weekly for the NBR. In 2017 he won ‘Opinion Writer of the Year’ at the Canon Media Awards.

Duncan considers himself a “glass-half-full” person. Outside of work, Duncan has four kids and after their demands are met (or ignored) he loves fishing, hunting, being outdoors and on the water... He likes to think that devices don’t rule him (but knows they probably do).

On his return to radio, Duncan says he loves the rigorous and challenging nature of talk back:

It's best when you're sitting in your car, knowing you need to get out but the caller, the issue, the topic is so good, so gripping, you just sit there listening...that's radio gold. Real people - not spokespeople -  real and raw stories told straight.  Radio is immediate, intimate and bloody interesting.
