Green's Swarbrick and ACT's van Velden share common ground

Green Party MP Chlöe Swarbrick and ACT Party MP Brooke van Velden are dispelling assumptions about them.

The politicians spoke with Petra Bagust on Sunday Sanctuary about their common grounds, despite their political differences.

"I think they expect me to be very antagonistic," commented Swarbrick.

"I'll meet with them and they'll kind of get a sense of how I'm interested to understand what their perspective is.

"Then I'll be really forthright about what my views and my values are.

"So I think perhaps what people get wrong about me, would be sometimes they expect me to be angry."

Similarly, ACT MP van Velden told Bagust: "I think people expect that politicians just don't like each other".

"I constantly get people asking me what my opinion is of a different politician,” she said.

"To be honest I get on well with most people in Parliament and I think that actually surprises everybody across the political spectrum.
