New Zealand Farmland Facing Pine Tree Invasion

REX Producer Jo Grigg attended the Our Land & Water Science Challenge "Why Pines?"  recent media briefing and reveals to Dom some troubling information to come out of the meeting.

She explains the research which indicates a significant rise in pine plantations on New Zealand's sheep and beef farmland, driven by carbon policies, water quality regulations, and economic pressures.

Grigg stresses the need for policy adjustments and incentives for native tree planting to counter this trend, also touching on the social and community impacts of these changes, which the current models overlook.
