Tauranga is standing up its Emergency Operations Centre tomorrow as the city braces for Cyclone Gabrielle.
The city council says it has a close eye on the situation - with the area under orange heavy rain and strong wind warnings.
It urges anyone living in low-lying areas to take steps to protect themselves against surge flooding or erosion.
Sandbag supplies have been exhausted, but this could change on Monday.
