Laura McGoldrick 'very excited' to host NZ's first female-focused sports show

A new show all about women’s sports, made for women, by women, about women, debuts on Sky at 8 pm on Wednesday night.

It’s called 'The Women’s Game' and will be hosted by brilliant sports broadcaster Laura McGoldrick, who told Tova O'Brien as far as she knows it is a New Zealand first.

"I'm really excited to be a part of something so special," McGoldrick said.

"They are very forward-focused at Sky and are working really hard to make sure women are at the forefront of a lot of their thinking."

The first show will be focused on Super Rugby Aupiki, but McGoldrick said they aim to cover as many different sports and female athletes as possible.

"There are a lot of female athletes here in Aotearoa that nobody knows anything about so if we can highlight them and tell everyone how awesome they are then how good is that."

She is proud of New Zealand's coverage of women's sports in general and believes this show will only add to that.

The show's debut episode will feature Black Ferns stars Ruahei Demant and Ruby Tui alongside McGoldrick, live on Sky Sport 1, from 8 pm.
