Former Blackcap Ross Taylor concerned there's not enough new talent to replace ageing team

Former Blackcap Ross Taylor thinks our national side has plenty of work to do in preparing the squad for the future.

Speaking to Marc Peard Sports, he raised concerns about an ageing team, saying young players need to make the step up now.

"Probably have to fast-track a few players," said Taylor.

"Give them an opportunity, give them a long-go to see where they're at.

Taylor also weighed in on the Martin Guptill chat after the batsman parted ways with our national side.

Ross wants to see his experience back in the team environment but thinks it's not up to Guppy.

"I think his hand was forced in that regard," said Taylor.

"But he's still got an opportunity, so I guess that's up to Stead and New Zealand Cricket to make the right decisions going forward."
